Painted Stories

synopsis
Paintings were the movies of there times, the Painter the Director. Through their paintings they would bring life to the world, events, tragidies or the inside of their minds. Think Botticelli's Venus, a couple in a museum staring in Aw at its beauty when they start to see perspiration coming from the surface of the painting then a pin hole stream then a wave and you are transported to that time, the painting brought to life. Perhaps one of Van Goughs Self portraits is brought to life and his state of mind and why he cut of his ear in his own words, the creativity and imagination of bringing paintings to life will make peoples mouths drop.

A Taste of Memories

synopsis
I know the college and high school thing has been done and done again but that's because we all have such a great time during those years. This movie idea is not trying to be real deep or break any amazing new ground. Instead we would be looking to create another "Dazed and Confused" or "Animal House" style picture that involves the current cultures and styles of college or high school. Tell a story and as we keep telling stories lets see if we can make the stories into characters. I guess the concept would be to write a bunch of little stories and see if we can put them all together in a simultaneous time line. Lets see where it goes!

graffin de siècle

synopsis
Since moving to San Francisco two years ago and visiting New York this year, I have been really interested in street art of all kinds. From simple marker tags, to stencils and graffiti. The more I read on it all, the more I have come to respect just how long graffiti has been going on and the influence it has had on societies and culture in general. Check out this article for a quick (holy shit, almost went with "primer") refresher.
In a nutshell, graffiti has been a big part of culture since the first caveman drew on a big rock. But, it didn't reach it's somewhat shady status in society until people started defacing stuff other people, and more importantly the government, actually cared about or built. That's still 1000's of years of history!
The film could take distinct periods in history and craft short character pieces of individual/groups of artists struggling to survive during these eras. The art that these characters produce will combine to tell a larger, more intricate story that culminates in the final piece.
Each era will have a specific art style with top of the line special effects and design. I'm not talking about the typical explosions and dinosaurs crap, but super inventive and creative effects found in smaller budget productions (think A Scanner Darkly and good music videos). These visuals could also contain huge amounts of personal filmforay community art contributions.
Of course the individual character pieces and larger background story need fleshing out, but let me know what you think of the initial idea.
Notes:
- The title 'graffin de siècle' comes from graffiti + the French phrase "fin de siècle" meaning "end of an era" or "end of a century"
- Image 1: 'David' street stencil, by Blek Le Rat, Spring Street NYC
- Image 2: 'Revok', by Revok
- Image 3: A pic from the music video for D.A.N.C.E. by Justice. This video has some really sick animation. All shown on the t-shirts of the two band members (Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay) as they walk around. Here it is below:

Classics [remix]

synopsis
Inspired by the thousands of movie reenactments on youtube and the Beastie Boys' concert DVD, Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!, where they handed cameras to concert goers and edited the footage together.
Film school students and minor production companies could get involved too, not just home users. An online video editing interface similar to jumpcut could be used and people could mix and match their favorite scenes.
I guess the idea doesn't necessarily fit within the filmforay scope of a 'big budget production', but different nevertheless (perhaps a whole new site....hmm). Any movie could be used not just The Big Lebowski.
