Painted Stories

synopsis
Paintings were the movies of there times, the Painter the Director. Through their paintings they would bring life to the world, events, tragidies or the inside of their minds. Think Botticelli's Venus, a couple in a museum staring in Aw at its beauty when they start to see perspiration coming from the surface of the painting then a pin hole stream then a wave and you are transported to that time, the painting brought to life. Perhaps one of Van Goughs Self portraits is brought to life and his state of mind and why he cut of his ear in his own words, the creativity and imagination of bringing paintings to life will make peoples mouths drop.

Great potential
The potential for creative visual effects for this idea is of the charts. So many possibilities.
Van Gough
I think a indie movie about Van Gough, with grainy background, cool visuals and loose interpretations of his life would be an awesome movie. Good ol' Vince lived an interesting life, from mistresses to Abysenthe, he would be a great main character. i think the main thing with an idea like this, is to not try and not over do it with historical accuracy, more artsy and character driven...
Van Gough would be great
He really does stand out as the stereotypical artist that wasn't even close to being appreciated till long after death. I think that is what makes him so interesting.
cool potential
The visuals could be super cool on this. SHould we consider doing it as a set of high production web shorts?
Mona morph
I think this is a great idea for a TV show: take two paintings, say Mona Lisa and the American Farm Couple One, and have the show transit in storyline and visual texture from one to the other. Tres cool.
good idea, but not entirely realistic
the problem with a show like this is that for each new episode you'd need an entirely new cast, sets, etc. not only would the cost be astronomical, but the audience wouldn't have the opportunity to see a character fully developed (beyond the 1/2 or full hr of a show). this type of series works well with science fiction (twilight zone, etc) where character development doesn't really exist, but for a show like i imagine this to be, not so much.
as an art historian i'd much rather see a series based on one artist's work with continuing storylines, a real plot, character development, etc. i'd recommend any mid century pop artist...
